So my wife took the SoB suit i recently finished making out for a spin on Saturday of San Diego Comic Con, the prototype run as it were.
I was in my new commissar costume with my plasma pistol, including manly chops (i'll post shots of that later) and i took some business cards with me, i ran out, and i was not giving them out to just random passers by, they were given to professionals of the industry who were interested in the costume.

The reactions to the costume were mind blowing.
I've been working on this costume for over perhaps 6 months in my spare time, one piece at a time, this was the first day i had seen the whole project completed and assembled fully.
Just trying to cross the dealers/exhibitioners hall took us many hours, as we would get stopped every few steps, and every time we stopped for more than a few seconds, we had a crowd of people coming and going constantly, trying to take pictures for perhaps upto five mins before people had had their fill and we would try to rush along for a few more feet before being stopped once again.

The reactions were priceless, and i was grinning the whole day, so hard, my face hurts!

Oh.. the brave sister even faced a Necron warrior!

Wow!!  Shocked

That costume looks incredible. Well done! And your wife is a perfect Sister Smiley

How much did it cost to make it? And are you planning on selling it commercially, as you were handing out business cards?

Looking forward to the photo's of your new Commissar costume.

My dear Kommissar. You're a lucky guy! A wife who (by the looks of the photos) genuinely enjoys Comic Con. Ow, how rare. Love my GF to the death but couldn't get her to read anything beyond Harry Potter and Twilight.

Twilight doesn't count, it's awful  Wink

Very nice pictures, though I can never understand why people spend so much money on costumes for these cons.

Just... why? Not that it's not awesome, but... why? Wink  Grin

Human beings are the only animals that lie.

Lies to deceive people, lies to benefit oneself and lies to protect the heart.

If there were no lies in this world much strife would disappear

Perhaps it is because this world is a mixture of truth and lies that people have learned how to believe

Oh, so very true and the movie is even worse. But she is my GF and thus see gets forgiven for that. Aslong as that Cullen-guy isn't hanging in my house, than I can live with it. That and she doesn't mind me playing DH and DnD4E. Grin

Incredible work there - thanks for sharing - your wife looks simply stunning Sir Smiley

the two of you together with a caption like "Together they fight Xenos" would be cool !

thanks, i feel she does make a great sister, we're both really proud, she took the extra step and dyed her hair for me, instead of wearing a wig, it really made a difference.

the business cards were for publicity, i would love to do things like this professionally, but you have to break into the industry, i could never sell the armor though, since i don't own the IP for it.

I actually thought the first image was digital art before scrolling down... Methinks that says something about the quality. Cheesy  (Either that or it says something about me--whichever explanation you prefer. Cheesy)

It really does look awesome - it must feel good too for the long hours you put into it to be well appreciated, everywhere.  Your wife even dyed her hair for that?  Wow, that is dedication...

On a side note, unfortunately my wife has little interest in anything Warhammer - and is also a Twilight fan.   Sad
She also reads the Sookie Stackhouse series, and likes True Blood.  I don't read the books but I do like True Blood so I guess that's ok.

It could be worse, I suppose.

Whoa, I was not expecting that, holy crap that's awesome!

I would like to point out that while you can't sell "Battle Sister Armor" as a product, you can sell custom costume services, and if that happens to be a customer who saw the armor and wants something like it, then that's cool too (I know this because my costumer/armorer uses a similar side-step to avoid IP infringement when making things like my Khardic Cyber-arm, with all sorts of Iron Kingdoms IP on it).
